Know what an Infographic is? Here's a hint: you can probably figure it out. And if you've seen any around the net, they've most likely come from Online Schools.

Above is only a snippet of their feature on Hugh Hefner, and the rest can be found after the jump. Online Schools has done a bunch of them, and they're both beautifully designed and strangely informative. Can you get an education here? Unless you want a degree in "Shit-You-Didn't-Know-About-Hugh-Hefner-Or-Pizza" it's not a guarantee, but it's certainly entertaining. This week I'll be posting more of their work, in the mean time you can check the others out. Because I know you're not actually going to school.

Recommended Album: Okkervil River – The Stage Names

Indie Rock/Pop. The album isn't strikingly different from much of the current indie music, but it's just done extremely well. What makes it stands apart is the lyricism and delivery. Instead of just an afterthought it's beautifully poetic, and works to carry the album through.

Hey, this describes the three pillars of my personality. Of course I would love it. A photoblog mocking everything, or just things in general. They will give you hipster cred, if that's what you're looking for.

Recommended Album: Battles – Mirrored

Math Rock/Progressive/Electronic/Experimental. "Math Rock" sounds lame. In reality, it is extremely complex and intricate, like the engine in a Porche. Or your father's criminal record. Mirrored blends progressive rock withe electronic instincts for a hypnotic ride.

Recommended Movie: Waking Life
Animation/Drama/Fantasy/Mystery. A man stuck in a lucid dream goes has a series of adventures and discussions in his dream world. Absolutely gives you an entirely new take on what you do for 1/3rd of your life. This film will make you want to go to bed. In a good way.
From IMDB: Dreams. What are they? An escape from reality or reality itself? Waking Life follows the dream(s) of one man and his attempt to find and discern the absolute difference between waking life and the dreamworld. While trying to figure out a way to wake up, he runs into many people on his way; some of which offer one sentence asides on life, others delving deeply into existential questions and life's mysteries. We become the main character. It becomes our dream and our questions being asked and answered. Can we control our dreams? What are they telling us about life? About death? About ourselves and where we come from and where we are going? The film does not answer all these for us. Instead, it inspires us to ask the questions and find the answers ourselves.

Recommended Album: Destroyer – Destroyer’s Rubies

Indie Rock/Pop/Singer/Songwriter. The name "Destroyer" doesn't seem like it would liken comparisons to Bob Dylan, but Dan Bejar's side project is an evolution of classic rock and folk songwriting. Bejar sings throughout the entire album as if he's in an armchair, a glass of cognac in one hand, a cigar in the other. The lyrics are ultimately poetic fluff, but sung to give them an air of immediacy and drama. It's not droopy and inflated, but typically upbeat, high class, and a little tipsy sounding.

Recommended Movie: The Prestige
Mystery/Suspense/Thriller. The perfection of a perfect trick leads to a rivalry between two fellow magicians. Excellent story, and David Bowie plays Nikola Tesla, so you can't complain.

Recommended Movie: Fargo
Thriller/Drama/Dark Comedy. Well this is a classic, but it's often overshadowed by the other work of the Cohen Brothers or even Quentin Tarantino's work. Man arranges the kidnapping of his wife to collect the ransom from her rich father. It predictably goes to shit, made all the funnier by Steve Buscemi, wood chippers, and Midwestern accents.
